Lorca Smetana
Tell us a little bit about yourself in 3-4 sentences:
Lorca Smetana is one who does not easily fit into accessible labels. She brings complexity and compassion as a resilience educator and storyteller, a spiritual leader, a creative maker and a lover of land and animals. Deeply affected by tragedy early in life, Lorca’s work has centered on designing a resilience structure for healing after tragedy. In personal investigations through the lens of somatic therapy and other healing methods, Lorca invites the tension of tragedy and joy. By unearthing the beautiful functioning ecosystem of the human experience, Lorca helps us rebalance.
Here’s another way to say it: Lorca Smetana is a resilience catalyst and a soul gardener. A treat for all of us!
Tell us a little bit about how you serve your people, in 2-3 sentences:
A survivor of the 1986 school mountaineering tragedy on Mt. Hood, Lorca is grounded in the work of compassion and resilience. She serves us all through interactive workshops, speaking engagements, as a celebrant, and now she offers new 1- and 3- month online courses in creative resiliency. Lorca also shares her doves and a special aspen grove on her land for retreats and spiritual work.
In addition to her work as a resilience coach and tending to her farm animals, Lorca also focusses on time with her family, thinking and dreaming, making music on her banjo, writing, painting, creating 3-dimensional embroidery, building a sea kayak, painting a spinning wheel, working with wood, and singing.
